Meditation – Change Your Brain To Be In Permanent Bliss

- Image via Wikipedia
You must have heard about stories of how those who meditate very often are constantly happy. Well, it is very difficult to believe that anybody can be constantly happy. What if one falls down and is hurt bad? Will one still be happy? This often leads to illogical questions that make it very difficult to understand how meditation works.
Well, studies conducted on Buddhist monks with more than 10,000 hours of meditation indicate that certain parts of their brains are changed fundamentally. That part of the brain which is supporting the emotional network is affected and the end result is that the person is constantly empathic about things around him or her.
Have you ever met a person who has complete control over the surroundings and never seems to get flustered? No matter what you say, he or she has something nice to tell as a reply. Well, you probably met a person who has meditated for so long that he or she has changed the brain fundamentally.
Well, this has confirmed the longstanding suspicion that meditation actually helps us change all those things that nature has made unchangeable. Some people say that it is impossible to change the basic nature. Well, that is no longer the case.
You just have to meditate long and hard enough and you will automatically get the power to make changes. Of course, this power will bring responsibility and you will automatically focus towards your welfare.
Well, 10,000 hours of meditation may seem like a big figure. When you are struggling to control your mind for even one minute, 10,000 hours can seem like a lifetime. Well, do not treat it like a project that needs to be completed within a specific deadline. Rather, you should just run the race and find out how far you go ahead. That is the right spirit to meditate.

Meditation 101 – The Basics

Many people today have heard about meditation and might be curious about what is really involved with practicing meditation. Although there are a variety of different ways that meditation is practiced (different meditation techniques and such), there are basic and common things that underlay the majority of all meditation practices.
The first step for meditation is having a quiet mind. It sounds like a pretty easy to do, but to be really effectively at it really does take practice. Throughout the day there are many voices that creep up into your head focusing on what you need to be doing, where you need to be going as well as problems or concerns in your life that you need to resolve or make better. During meditation you need to let your mind ignore all the outside influences that surround you that are vying for your attention and just let you mind become clear and quiet.
Another step of meditation is the ability to focus on being in the present (the right now) instead of focusing on the future or the past. Being able to experience each and every moment that comes and then let it go to experience the next one is such a great thing! It also takes quite a bit of practice to learn how to focus on the here and now because we seem to always be thinking about our future or our past instead of enjoying where we are at the present moment.
Lastly in meditation you strive to obtain an altered state of consciousness. Over time, by practicing the first two steps of quieting our minds and focusing on the present, you can achieve an altered level of consciousness. It’s a state of mind that isn’t like your usual awake state or sleeping state – it’s somewhere in between. Meditation has been known to increase brain activity in a particular section of the brain that is associated with positive thoughts and emotions. So if you’re interested in having that in your life, look into practicing meditation as a regular part of your life!
